A Washington, D.C. townhouse where former President Barack Obama lived during his years as a senator is on the market for $1.27 million.
The property is a multifamily residence with two units, including the first-floor apartment where the Obamas lived. The townhouse is located less than a mile from Capitol Hill and provides access to the US Capitol, and the Senate and House offices, According to Mention Global,
The listing agent, Linda Petty of Coldwell Banker Realty, told the Post, “This is a modest home, however, so location is everything.
Located on the east side of Stanton Park, Obama rented the unit during his time as a senator representing Illinois from 2005 to 2008 — and while he was running for president.
“He lived in that first floor apartment. And then the other side of the house was rented out to another party,” Petty said.
What’s more, the home overlooks the district’s famous cherry blossoms during the springtime.
The main unit, spread over the second and third floors, has two bedrooms and 1.5 baths. As soon as you step inside you will be greeted by sunlit living spaces. Kitchen overlooks Stanton Park.

Features include hardwood floors and a wood burning fireplace. Living room patio doors lead to the rear wrought iron deck providing access to the backyard, which includes off-street parking for one car.
Upstairs are bedrooms, full bath with shower/tub and laundry area.
The first-floor apartment where the Obamas used to live, and shown by special appointment, the one-bedroom, one-bath unit currently rents for $1,500 a month.
The lease will expire at the end of January 2024, the listing notes, adding that it will “present an excellent opportunity for potential rental income or flexible living arrangements.”
In 2008, Obama, now 61, told “60 Minutes” that the space had a “vintage, college-dorm, pizza, empty-bottle feel,” and that he was teased for being the only senator, whose employees had better DC accommodations. ,

Former First Lady Michelle Obama said she visited the apartment, but never slept there.
“I watched long enough to know I wasn’t going to be there,” the Princeton and Harvard alum said in a “60 Minutes” interview.
During Obama’s first campaign for the presidency, members of the Secret Service suggested that if he were in a hotel, and he was gone, he would be easier to track.
