A Los Angeles property that The Beatles rented during their 1964 appearance at the Hollywood Bowl is renting for $42,000 a month, The Post has learned.
At the time, The Beatles, who were at the height of their fame, had booked a suite of rooms at the now-former Ambassador Hotel. But the threat of thousands of teenage super fans trampling the field became real, and the hotel canceled the group’s reservation.
Additionally, Lockheed Airport in Burbank refused to let their planes land because of the thousands of people in the vicinity.
Instead the band stayed at the Bel Air home of British actor Reginald Owen, who owned the property at the time and came to the band’s rescue.
He rented the six-bedroom and seven-bathroom property for four days for $1,000 — or $9,736 today.
Now appropriately named Beatle Manor, John Lennon walks straight into the pool and Jumped in fully clothed. And the group also played Cowboys and Indians with toy pistols—a gift from Elvis Presley.
Nevertheless, fans discovered their location and surrounded the house at 356 St. Pierre Road.
When tickets went on sale in April 1964, four months before the concert, all 18,000 were snapped up in less than four hours by screaming teenagers who had waited in line all night.
To add to the frenzy, The Beatles’ debut single “A Hard Day’s Night” was released 10 days before the concert.
Nestled behind private double gates on what has been described as “one of the most respected streets” in the neighborhood, the home occupies over 6,000 square feet.
Sitting on an acre of land, amenities include a formal living room with a wood-burning fireplace and an adjacent family room with a wood-beamed ceiling and custom cabinetry, the listing notes.
The formal dining room also features a fireplace and adjoins the remodeled kitchen.
French doors on the main level open to covered patios that overlook the estate’s grounds, which include a pool, spa, fire pit, entertainment area, multiple fountains, gardens, and alfresco dining and lounge space.
Five of the six bedrooms on the upper level have an en-suite bathroom. The primary suite features vaulted ceilings, walls of windows, dual closets, and dual bathroom suites.
There is also a bedroom on the main level away from the living spaces and can serve as guest quarters.
