Manhattan loft where Heath Ledger Passed away The Post has learned that just 15 years ago it sold for $14.25 million.
Located in SoHo, at 419-421 Broome St., Ledger had rented a 4,400-plus-square-foot unit for approximately $25,000 a month.
Property records obtained by The Post show the home sold last month in an off-market deal to an undisclosed LLC.
On January 22, 2008, the Australian actor was found dead in his bedroom – his death a accidental overdose Prescription medicine.
Shortly after his passing, the 1873 building was converted into a condominium and renovated with two stories.
Composed of three bedrooms and three baths, the unit features an open floor plan with a great room, and comes fully furnished.
The house also includes coffered ceilings and cast iron columns. The before-and-after photos show that the unit remains largely the same with updated features.





In the years since, the chef’s kitchen has been renovated with high-end appliances. The bedroom has exposed brick, and the bathroom has been updated to include marble walls and floors.
Units have 14-foot-high ceilings, and the building also comes with soundproof custom windows.
Unit also has wood burning fireplace, central AC and it’s own laundry room.



Ledger, who had died at the age of 28, was found that afternoon at about 3:30 p.m. by his housekeeper and a masseuse—and the news spread quickly throughout the city. Fans gathered at the building on the same day to leave flowers and candles under the flag of Ledger’s native Australia.
Paramedics reacted as the actor went into cardiac arrest. But their efforts to revive him through CPR were unsuccessful.
In 2021, the triplex penthouse The building, which was built after his death, sold for a then-downtown record $49 million.
A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight”. His performance earned him universal acclaim – as well as a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
