The CNN Money Fear & Greed Index showed some deterioration in overall sentiment among US investors.

US stocks closed lower on Thursday as investors assessed the latest batch of corporate earnings.

Alphabet Inc. Google Shares continued to slide 4.4% on Thursday after the company’s BARD AI chatbot gave incorrect answers in an ad for the company.

On Thursday, the Dow lost nearly 249 points to close at 33,699.88. The S&P 500 fell 0.88% to 4,081.50 in the session, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.02% to 11,789.58.

At the current reading of 72.0, the index remained in the “greed” zone as compared to the previous reading of 73.0.

What is the CNN Business Fear and Greed Index?

The Fear and Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. This is on the grounds that high fear tends to put pressure on stock prices, while high greed has the opposite effect. The index is calculated on the basis of seven equally weighted indicators. The index ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 represents maximum fear and 100 indicates maximum greed.
