Julia Fox admitted on TikTok that she prefers living in her self-described “tiny” Manhattan apartment that’s infested with rats because she doesn’t like “excessive displays of wealth.”
Fox said in a, “They make me feel weird.” viral video Which has been viewed more than 3.3 million times. “Especially people who have really big houses. It really sucks when there are so many homeless people in this country. I just, I’m really not like that.
Fox, 32, gave viewers a tour of her modest Manhattan apartment, which showcases a balance of chaos and simplicity.
“I never in a million years thought I would do this, but I believe in maximum transparency and that’s why I’m going to give you guys an apartment tour,” Fox says. “I know I’m going to get roasted. And whatever, but hopefully someone can see it and be like ‘Maybe I’m not doing so bad.’
First she moves the fan to the living room, which she then converts into her bedroom. She says she used her tiny bedroom as a playroom for her son, Valentino, who she welcomed last February with her ex.
Fox then looks at a mirror on the wall, which contains photographs dedicated to her loved ones who have passed away.
“This is my nostalgia mirror. This is Valentino when he was born. That’s my friend Harmony who passed away. It is my friend Jana who passed away,” she says.
The fox then goes into the long hallway.
“It’s a very long corridor. Nothing happens here.” She then shows a white board of her son’s daycare schedule, with different items in the hallway.
She proceeds to show him the “small bathroom”, which can be seen with piles of clothes.
“It’s very small, but it does what it’s supposed to do,” says Fox, before heading to the kitchen.
“It’s Valentino’s little kitchen area, and then it’s my kitchen area. Don’t judge me, I know. I know it’s really messy.
Fox then proceeds to show a pile of shoe boxes in the kitchen, saying it is “very common for New Yorkers.”

Fox then goes to his son’s room, which is filled with toys, a decorative train rug, life-size stuffed animals, and artwork.
“I think I put the most effort into this room. I really wanted him to have a cute room,” Fox explains in the video. “However, he doesn’t hang around here at all. He wants to stay in mother’s room. He doesn’t even like to sleep there. He sleeps on the bed with me. Yes we are co sleepers. Sue me. I do not care.”
At the end of the video, she reveals that she has a “little mouse problem”.
“But it’s a problem no matter how you look at it. I let them rock it,” Fox says.
“I appreciate that they clean up the crumbs my son dropped on the floor at night while he’s sleeping. So yeah, I’m not going to be evicting the rats any time soon.
