Baylor Scott & White, NextCare Partners at 41 Texas Centers

Baylor Scott & White Health is adding 41 urgent care locations to its network in Texas through a partnership with NextCare Urgent Care.

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White, which serves 3 million Texans as the state’s largest nonprofit health system, said Thursday it will jointly own urgent care sites and expand to Houston and San Antonio. Will expand Other Nextcare sites are spread across the Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin metro areas, where Baylor Scott & White already has a physical presence.

The system operates 51 hospitals and more than 1,200 care locations, including five urgent care centers.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

According to a Thursday news release, the organizations will work on branding and digital integration in the coming months.

Baylor Scott & White reported net income of $1.05 billion in the first nine months of fiscal 2023, compared with $680 million in the year-ago period.

Urgent care in Texas is becoming an increasingly competitive market.
