Andre Leon Talley’s New York home is listed for $1.25M

The Westchester retreat of a fashion veteran and longtime creative director of Vogue has hit the market for $1.25 million.

A media titan with a noted penchant for capes and kaftans, Andre Leon Talley called this White Plains, New York estate home for the last 18 years of his life, The New York Times first reported,

The North Carolina-bred stylist, who wasn’t a huge fan of city living, considered the Colonial-style property to be his “sanctuary,” he told the publication in 2018.

He Passed away Last year, at age 73, after complications from COVID-19.

A limited liability company formed by a fashion designer diane von furstenberg is selling a 3,600 sq. ft. property, which is listed Julia b. With Bonnie Stein of Phi Sotheby’s International Realty.

“The house was the perfect spot for Andre, because it was down a private street,” Alexis E. Thomas, an old friend and trustee of Talley’s estate, told the Times. “His porch became a place where he spent a lot of time, especially in warm weather. He conducted interviews from there, and he would zoom in from there. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent with him on that porch.

During his nearly two decades, Talley was rarely in the spacious kitchen (he didn’t cook, Thomas explained), was often in the study, used one of the four bedrooms as a linen closet and never Rather hosted Thomas in the other bedroom.

Talley’s close friend George Malkemus, an executive for Manolo Blahnik, who died in 2021, and her husband, Anthony Urgaitis, won Talley as “America’s Next Top Model” in 2004 at a cost of $1.02 million. Bought a 169 year old house. Judge was reportedly in a pinch about the mold issue in her current home and credit issues, among other problems. (Separately, Talley said he moved there because his landlord raised his rent.)

The arrangement took a turn in 2020, when its benevolent landlords wanted to sell, a disagreement occurred, and both sides sued each other.

According to the Times, the legal situation is set to expire in 2022 in a “confidential settlement agreement.”

After his death, Talley’s estate was auctioned off for $3.5 million, but the house still has $10,000 worth of leopard-print carpeting in the stairwell and a bit of the second floor.

Plus, there are 2.5 baths, a windowed breakfast nook, oak hardwood floors throughout, a lovingly landscaped backyard, a circular driveway, and multiple fireplaces.
