A video showing a deserted hotel being vandalized has gone viral on social media, with onlookers talking about “horrible” people “destroying” private property.
clip It was captured last month by a Detroit “urban explorer” known only as Bobby, who posted on TikTok under the handle @tru_explores.
Bobby did not reveal the name of the hotel, which is located in Michigan, but told viewers that it closed in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
He first visited the abandoned building two years ago, saying it was left in pristine condition, with furniture still in the lobby and full bottles of wine stocked up on the bar.
However, when Bobby returned to his former hotel last month, he was horrified, capturing footage of what he found.
Video shows the lobby strewn with trash and piles of destroyed furniture, possibly thrown from hotel rooms above.
Graffiti also covered the walls of the building and windows were smashed. Meanwhile, growing mounds of mold were left in the empty pool.
Bobby recently told NeedToKnow.co.uk: “I think the hotel was already struggling to get customers and the pandemic put them out of business completely.”

“I believe whoever owns this hotel also has many other properties and has left it to be forgotten,” he said. “They didn’t see the value in trying to sell everything and sell the building.”
Bobby explained that the place was one of the “freshest abandoned” places he had ever found.
However, when he returned last month he described the scene as “apocalyptic”.
“It’s sad because real urban explorers like me want to preserve places, not destroy them,” he said.

Onlookers were similarly shocked by how destroyed the hotel was, sharing their thoughts below the viral video.
“I don’t know why people destroy these beautiful deserted places,” one person wrote mournfully.
“People can’t leave things alone. It’s sad,” said another.

Another wrote: “It is strange that some people take their precious time out of their day to destroy these beautiful deserted places.”
Another onlooker declared: It’s horrible what people do to these places. So when I get something, I only tell close friends, who I usually bring with me.
